And now I have to help Piffin, she needs fabric, and lots of it. She is inspired by the famous Droog chair, but making something completely different. Lots of summer sculpture going on here.

With three dogs around, did I mention that? Fortunately they are quite calm when I am sitting down. And we seriously reduced the barking, Michiel showed Samson who is the alpha male in this house.

I wouldn't mind one right now. But I am trying to draw Africa.

I think my neighbours might have a problem. Mommy and daddy were waiting underneath the deck while their young were playing. Until bed time.

And now on our bikes to get Samson and Delilah's food, blankets, toys, and whatever else they will need while staying at our house for two weeks. Neighbours beware, there'll be barking.

Believe it or not, this is father and son. Maybe some of my older visitors will recognize the father. Anyone?

This is what I use for sketching a portrait. A sheet full of different photo's. I never just use a single one.

There you go, still making money off work I did in 2006. Finally someone ordered Ramsey Nasr, I knew it the minute he was elected poet laureate. And I'm happy, because he's one of my favourites.

Guess I'm a little behind schedule.

muscle

deyssel_fase.jpg
And the weather is nice, and there is a screaming Summer camp at the church across the street, and our psychiatrist friend brought us a whole season of In Treatment. Life is good. And Michiel hired muscle to put the filing cabinet upstairs. A guy from a moving company, Michiel found him on Craigs List. His truck was in the shop, so he was looking for jobs that needed muscle but no transport.

research

But most of my day was research. Very detailed article this, it's like a discription of a drawing, only I have to work the other way around. I made very good chicken soup too. And Michiel and I are watching Mad Men, how nasty people were in 1960! I do feel like a good housewife though, I think the series brings that out in me. Piffin knew CTV has all these series on its website, whole seasons, I had no idea, I never know anything. Guess you have to have a Canadian IP to watch.

burco

Michiel is on his way home, yippie! He was going to bring the Burco, but unfortunately he is not bringing it. He was going to ride it to the Deventer train station in the middle of the night, and then he noticed the bike had no lights... No way you can bike from Gorssel to Deventer in the dark without bike lights. Shoohoohoot. It would be such a cool bike in Toronto...

And oter than a few neighbourly chats there was nothing today. Which is good, because I worked hard. I didn't work hard enough yesterday, so I made up the damage. Yesterday I didn't work hard enough because Piffin and I watched Michael Jackson's funeral. I very much liked Jermaine Jackson singing Smile. I don't see any of my brothers sing like that on my funeral, that's for sure.

I should not forget to blog, it's important to keep track. New work keeps coming in, VPRO-guide coming up. And a safari too.

Today I received a rejection from an agent I approached almost a year ago. Fast guys. My work isn't commercial enough. Just when I'm drawing a store, how much more commercial does it get?

It's getting there. And happy Canada day. Today is the first time I felt something listening to the Canadian national anthem. My dear friend Martin desperately wanted to make the Guinnes book of records, but I think they didn't quite pass the 818 musicians in Seoul. Nevertheless, it was quite a noise. I promised to take part next year, under the condition of at least one saxophone lesson.
